obama, a dignified elderly 92 year old woman named bernice opened the door in my get out the vote identification, identified her supporting equality. and she looked at me and she looked at my official obama pen that said lgbt for obama and she looked at me with tears in her eyes and she said, our time has really come, hasn't it? we both cried. that moment with bernice takes some of the pain of this day away. on this day i always feel a heightened affinity with my uncle for this was that night 34 years ago that i had to first reflect on my own conversations with harvey. anyone who has had conversations with harvey will know, you cannot get away easy. and he didn't let me as a teenager get away easy either. i had to reflect about the meaning of those conversations. it was a day that i had to look hard at what his love and guidance would mean to me that that was gone, that i could only think of the words and the conversations that we had. my uncle was moved by all extraordinary heroes of authenticity that he would see, particularly when it wasn't pretty or easy for them. that is in m

as an outcome for the next generations and part of the obama's in fact and i have builds on this and the revitalization program and with choice neighborhoods including the planning grants we're announcing here in san francisco we intend to replicate that success across the count ree. as you know today every federal dollar is precious and with choice neighborhoods we have been able to leverage that with other capital and we have grants and including $30 million that was awarded just a little bit ago for the housing development in the bay view, but those $125 million have leveraged additional 1.$6 billion in other funding and that is a ratio or return of 13 to one which is extraordinary as well, so a couple of things , the neighborhood and build the sustainable community of approximately 1600 mixed income units and in the sunny dale neighborhood the corporation will use the grant to have a transformation grant for the neighborhood and reverse the community's long standing distress and it's important to call out the other important partners, city college of san francisco, pu

neighborhoods is just one powerful example of the obama administration investing better and we do what works and stop what doesn't work and form the partnerships that we need to solve the challenges of irnlt generational pof poverty for once and for all and it takes on average two generations to break that cycle of poverty and we are trying to break it in one and the efforts we're supporting and we want every american to have the chance to get ahead no matter where they are and live, whether it's a second grader to go to school or a parent walking their kid safely to school around the corner. we recognize that america built to last draws from the ability of the future and tap all of the resources. that what is takes to build the economy for the 31st century and that's what these grants are all b it's a pleasure to you here with you. >> >> [applause] >> thank you and thank you to our hud partners and at this moment i know i don't need to introduce him. i want to present to all of you mayor edwin lee. >> thank you henry and thank you deputy administrator henry for being here today. two fant

application with our department of justice. and i will first and foremost thank president obama and the department of justice for recognizing a big gap that we have, a gap that is reflective of our multi-culturalism. and, therefore, this specific $650,000 grant is really to fulfill a huge gap that we had when we are looking at immigrant families. we're looking at particularly latino and asian families, but immigrant families who, for many years, we knew that we were not getting the right level of reports, the right level of services because of the cultural gaps here. so, this is targeted and aimed at that gap. and it is, i think, very telling that we have our immigrant families stepping up and feeling confident in this city that they can work with all the community agencies that are involved here, and really try to help us end domestic violence because that's the goal of all these agencies. it isn't really to tolerate or just provide a service. it really is to end domestic violence. and that's been the goal of this city. and that's why we work so hard. george and our office. it

is me linda hague for those of you who don't know me. i was appointed by president obama a little more than two years ago to be united states attorney and it is my incredible honor to represent the president, the obama administration here in the northern district of california. welcome to the stop bullying summit. i'm a federal prosecutor so it may seem odd that here we are talking about bullying and we asked all of you to be here and i want to explain the origin of that and why this happened. you people, everybody in this room, has been involved in this issue and is doing incredible work on this issue and we were so honored to be a part of it and to meet with all of you and to speak with you about it. the origin is that as the united states attorney, the administration wants me, wants all the united states attorneys, to go out into the community. it's actually a very different role for the united states attorney is envisioned by this administration. this administration, the president, attorney general holder, they want the u.s. atto
